Job Description

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our dynamic accounting team. The ideal candidate will have experience in accounting and possess strong knowledge of fixed asset management, and month end closing. You will play an important role in ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting, and supporting the audit process.

Job Responsibilities:

Fixed Asset Management:

• Oversee the management of over 1,000 fixed assets, ensuring accurate capitalization, depreciation, and disposal of assets.
• Prepare monthly depreciation entries and generate detailed asset reports for executive review.
• Maintain compliance with accounting standards and assist in audit procedures related to fixed assets.

Monthly Journal Entries & Reconciliations:

• Prepare monthly journal entries for depreciation, prepaid/accrued expenses, and sales and use tax.
• Perform account reconciliations of the balance sheet, for accuracy and completeness.

Audit Support:

• Provide comprehensive support and documentation for external auditors, during our mid-year and end of year audits.
• Assist in the preparation of audited GAAP financial statements.

Continuous Process Improvement:

• Work closely with cross-functional teams to enhance processes related to fixed asset tracking, lease accounting, and financial reporting.
• Leverage technology (Sage) to streamline data entry, reporting, and compliance procedures.

Month-End Close Responsibilities:

• Maintain and reconcile balance sheets and general ledger accounts.
• Spot errors and suggest ways to improve efficiency and spending.
• Perform related duties, as assigned (likely tied to month-end close tasks).

Required Skills & Experience

Education:

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, or a related field.

Experience:

• Proven experience in accounting, particularly in fixed asset management, lease accounting, and journal entry preparation.
• Experience with Sage accounting software is highly preferred.

Skills & Competencies:

• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for cross-functional collaboration.
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other accounting software tools.
