Job Description

Our client is searching for a Payroll Manager for their headquarters located in Northwest Houston. This position will implement, maintain and review payroll processing systems to ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll transactions including salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes and other deductions. Additional tasks include ensuring accurate and timely processing of payroll updates including new hires, terminations, and changes to pay rates. This role will as manage the team of Payroll Specialists, allocating work responsibilities and managing workflow and the salary range is $100,000-$110,000 per year.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Manage end-to-end payroll processing, including collecting, calculating and inputting payroll data for all employees.
  • Ensure accuracy and compliance with application laws, regulations and company policies while processing payroll.
  • Manage direct and/or indirect reports and oversee responsibilities for the team.
  • Work with HRIS Administrator to maintain payroll systems, ensure data integrity and implement system upgrades and enhancements.
  • Collaborate with HR, finance and other departments to gather and validate payroll information, such as new hires, terminations, promotions and salary changes.
  • Monitor and resolve payroll discrepancies, investigating and resolving issues promptly and accurately.
  • Monitor payroll related interfaces from Dayforce and/or data warehouse to third parties.
  • Generate payroll reports, including tax filing, benefits, deductions and other required reports, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Address employee inquiries and concerns related to payroll, providing exceptional customer service and support.
  • Maintain confidentiality and data security standards for all payroll-related information.
  • Stay updated on payroll regulations, and industry trends, implementing necessary changes to ensure compliance and best practices.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, human resources or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in payroll management.
  • Manager experience of a payroll team of more than 2 employees.
  • Multi-unit payroll experience (retail or restaurant).
  • Relevant professional certifications in payroll management, such as Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) preferred.
  • In-depth knowledge of multi-state payroll processes, labor laws, taxation and statuary compliance.
  • Experience in handling payroll software and systems, such as Dayforce (formerly Ceridian), with experience implementing and managing payroll systems.
  • Understanding of financial principles and the ability to reconcile payroll with financial records.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in managing complex payroll calculations.
  • Good organizational and time management skills to meet strict payroll deadlines and manage multiples priorities.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with employees at all levels of the organization.
  • High level of integrity and ability to handle sensitive and confidential information
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
