Position

The Department of Pediatrics at the University of Washington School of Medicine, Division of Pulmonary and Sleep Medicine, in partnership with Seattle Children’s Hospital is seeking to appoint two physicians to fill the position as a full-time Assistant Professor (WOT) without tenure by reason of funding, Associate Professor (WOT) without tenure by reason of funding), or full Professor (WOT) without tenure by reason of funding, on the Clinician-Scholar Faculty pathway, commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Assistant Professors are eligible for multi-year appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30). Associate, and full Professors hold indefinite appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30). Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off. All University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, research and service.

The base salary range for this position will be: Assistant Professors MD $13,641 - $20,461 per month ($163,692 - $245,532 annually), Associate Professors MD $16,487 - $24,730 per month ($197,844 - $296,760 annually), Professors MD $19,820 - $29,729 per month ($237,840 - $356,748 annually) commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination. This range is inclusive of base salary provided through the Children’s University Medical Group (CUMG) practice plan, in addition to base salary provided by the University. Please note that only compensation provided by the University is included in University benefit determinations and calculations. Compensation provided by Children’s University Medical Group (CUMG) practice plan may provide eligibility for separate benefits offered by that organization.

Other compensation associated with this position may include incentive through Children’s University Medical Group practice plan. Additional administrative responsibilities may be offered to a specific candidate with appropriate experience and qualifications which may result in an administrative supplement (ADS).

Duties will include providing inpatient and outpatient clinical care including the use of flexible bronchoscopy, research, and teaching, as well as active participation in Divisional and Departmental activities. The candidate will conduct clinical research or engage in scholarly activity in an area of pulmonary medicine dealing with chronic conditions with health equity in mind. The research focus will align with the Division of Pulmonary and Sleep Medicine at Seattle Children’s Hospital, and the candidate will interact with medical students, residents, and pulmonary fellows in training.

Rank is commensurate with experience and qualifications. This position is a full-time appointment.

Anticipated start date is Summer-Fall 2025.

Qualifications

This position requires an MD or DO degree (or foreign equivalent). Must be Board certified or Board eligible (or foreign equivalent) in Pediatric Pulmonary Medicine and have completed a US accredited pediatric pulmonary fellowship program. Applicants must be eligible for medical licensure in state of Washington.

In order to be eligible for University sponsorship for an H-1B visa, graduates of foreign (non-U.S.) medical schools must show successful completion of all 3 steps of the U.S. Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE) or equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.
